DESCRIPTION:  \nThe increase in social media and Internet users’ exposure to diversity has not come with new instruments and skills to deal with it\, despite the invariable impact that diversity has on human lives. DESCRIPTION:Hybrid Human Artificial Intelligence (HHAI2023) is the second international conference focusing on the study of Artificial Intelligent systems that cooperate synergistically\, proactively and purposefully with humans\, amplifying instead of replacing human intelligence. \nHHAI2023 is organised by the Dutch Hybrid Intelligence Center and the European HumaneAI Network\, as the second conference in what we intend to become a series of conferences about Hybrid Human Artificial Intelligence. \nHHAI aims for AI systems that assist humans and vice versa\, emphasizing the need for adaptive\, collaborative\, responsible\, interactive and human-centered intelligent systems that leverage human strengths and compensate for human weaknesses\, while taking into account social\, ethical and legal considerations. This field of study is driven by current developments in AI\, but also requires fundamentally new approaches and solutions. In addition\, we need collaboration with areas such as HCI\, cognitive and social sciences\, philosophy & ethics\, complex systems\, and others. SUMMARY:Social Innovation and AI Development in Europe | a WeNet Panel Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Europe is increasingly investing in the development of Artificial Intelligence\, with a global third place in the number of AI economic players behind the United States and China. Arguably\, research in AI is the biggest driver of these developments\, with over 3 billion Euros annual investment in Germany alone. Social innovation plays an increasingly important role in the AI landscape with the European Commission funding and promoting research and products that primarily aim at serving society. Social innovations in AI promise to (re)focus AI development on people instead of profits. For instance\, the WeNet social media platform has been included in the EC Innovation Radar for responding to the various concerns with existing online systems for personal interaction. Yet\, questions remain about the export of European technologies and values as a form of digital colonialism and the reinforcement of bias and discrimination in technology. These trends\, drivers\, and conflicts are subject to our panel discussion with a group of renowned computer scientists and researchers. \n  \n\n\n\nWe will ask and answer the following questions: \n\n\n\n\nWhere does Europe stand in terms of AI development vis à vis USA and China? Where do we want Europe to be?\nIs social innovation unique to the European AI landscape? DESCRIPTION:After consulting with the EuroDIG partners\, the community\, and our host\, the ICTP in Trieste\, the date for EuroDIG2021 can be confirmed for June 28-30\, 2021. This includes\, as is the EuroDIG tradition\, a Day 0 in which organisations and initiatives can present their work\, and engage with the community\, followed by two full days of multi-stakeholder workshops\, high-level sessions\, and new formats. Mark your calendars\, we hope that many of you can participate. We are aware that schedules fill up quickly and finding suitable dates was a challenging task.\nOur youth participation programme “YOUthDIG” will take place June 26-28\, 2021. More information on how to participate will be shared in a few weeks. \nThe next EuroDIG meeting will be planned as a hybrid format\, with both an on-site event in Trieste\, and remote participation options. While remote participation has been a longstanding practice at EuroDIG meetings\, new ways to enhance the experience can build on the lessons learned in 2020. \nOur experience of this year has also shown: planning an in-person gathering is subject to an increased level of uncertainty in times of a pandemic. The EuroDIG Secretariat\, partners and the host will continuously evaluate the situation\, so changes to the format might ensue if needed. \n \n\nYOU CAN SHAPE EURODIG2021\nThe programme of EuroDIG2021 is shaped by you\, the EuroDIG community. In an easy online form\, you can now submit up to three proposals for issues. Thereby\, you can tell us what the most important European Internet policy themes are and what needs to be talked about next year. Just submit your idea(s) on our website. These are not proposals for sessions\, so you do not need to worry about the format or potential speakers at this point.
