WeNet Idiap Institute partner receives 2022 ACM ICMI Sustained Accomplishment award in India

The award was presented in the context of the ACM International Conference on Multimodal Interaction in Bengaluru, India, on November 9, 2022.

Prof. Daniel Gatica-Perez, head of the Social Computing Group at WeNet partner organisation Idiap Research Institute, was honoured with the 2022 ACM ICMI Sustained Accomplishment Award, which is presented “to a senior scientist who has made innovative, long-lasting, and influential contributions to the field of multimodal interaction, interfaces, and systems.”

Prof. Gatica-Perez also gave a keynote talk at the conference, entitled Focus on People: Five Questions from Human-Centered Computing, where he “shared experiences and views on how audio-visual and ubiquitous research on social interaction has evolved over the past two decades, and how future research with a people-first focus calls for commitment and action for a long-term alignment with societal needs and nature’s limits.”
